The film captures a moment between Kojo, Victoria, and their cousin Lola, who was adopted into their family, as they celebrate Lola and her new apartment with a light housewarming. The film’s protagonist, Kojo, is losing his mind. He is unsure as to what exactly is wrong with him, but his mind seems to be haunted by anxieties, the past, and hallucinations of demons around him that seem to thrive off of negative emotion. These mental battles, along with a lost sense of purpose, led Kojo to decide to withdraw from college. The only issue is he has yet to share the information with his siblings. The three siblings share a troubling past living in their African Household and dealing with their abusive father Kumi, and passive mother, Lydia. One eventful night in their childhood seemed to have left wounds deeper than the flesh can reach, and as Kojo attempts to come forward with the big news, old wounds open up, attracting demons ready to prey on their victims
The planning and production for the film was very extensive. The film was shot in February of 2024, with a crew of 12 people total.With this project being the first short film for quite a few of our crew members, the team had to practice working with varying skill levels to lead execute the project Bow Executive Phoenyx did Set Design for the film, leading a team of production assistants to bring the apartment to life and make it truly feel like a newly furnished apartment. Although the film was shot, the team still wanted to build excitement towards the project and keep people thinking about the project. So OpotheBoat then dropped the accompanying 3 song EP titled “Apple Cider EP” with the instrumental of the hit song “Things Fall Apart” being produced by none other than Caliber himself. The film is currently under post-production now, with high aims at being submitted to film festivals in 2025. The SoundWater Gala is going to be a fundraiser event to support the Canon’s ambitions of being accepted into larger festivals, along with pursuing larger projects, so the team currently is working diligently to bring that event to life while the film is crafted in Post Production.
