Vague Terms is the philosophy and operation interpreting the world through the processing of the Four Elements, Universally yet vaguely understood as Air, Earth, Fire and Water.
For OpotheBoat, Vague Terms are about building community and strengthening our ability to spread love and manifest. Opo always felt as if there was a disconnect between how he viewed the world vs his friends, family & neighbors. No matter how hard he would try to be kind or understanding, there always seemed to be arguments or fighting that would cloud people from making effective and efficient judgment. From being the second-youngest out of five kids in an argumentative African household to participating in high school state-championship debate tournaments, it seemed Opo could never find a space to communicate with the people around him while still being loving and efficient.But it was during 2020, with lockdown at its peak, until the death of George Floyd incited riots that had everyone outside, communities fighting amongst each other, all enraged by the same incident it became unbearably visible for Opo- The world was on fire. And without fully understanding how or why, he knew that sentence resonated with any conscious being looking to find a way to help that was not simply feeding into the flames of chaos.
This breakthrough sparked Opo’s excitement for understanding, and began his favorite method of gathering information- communication and expression. After speaking to a friend and fellow Artist Jordan Tyler, he was suggested to read the book, “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle. This book was a very pivotal part in the development of Vague Terms. Prior to this, there were many concepts about communication and perception that younger Opo would understand and try to articulate, but A New Earth was able to explain very thoroughly a concept that is key to understanding vague terms: The Relationship between Ego and Consciousness, and the depth of how much our reality is shaped by our passions and our anxieties.
Vague Terms is a significantly influential part in OpotheBoat’s life brand and philosophy.

The Element Tapes is OpotheBoat’s first recorded EP with the attempt to assist in conveying the different meanings of the Elements in a ways that was not as methodical. A bit more of a vibe, while still having the message be understood!
